Managment change at Wrede Industrieholding fully executed

- Duly bid farewell to longstanding Managing Director Helmut Schmidt

At the end of January 2018, Mr. Helmut Schmidt, Managing Director, and since 2015 Spokesman of Wrede Industrieholding GmbH & Co. KG, Arnsberg, has retired and has been bid farewell shortly after his 65th birthday at a festive ceremony. During his almost 29 years of service, he has made a significant contribution to the profitable growth of the Wrede Group and the group has become a “global player”, with 12 production sites worldwide in Europe, North and South America and in Asia.

When Helmut Schmidt joined Wrede in mid-1989, the company essentially consisted of a 37% stake in Pfleiderer Industrie (formerly Duropal) and the décor printing company Interprint in Arnsberg. At that time, a turnover of 33 million € was achieved with 150 employees, mainly in Germany. Together with the then Managing Partner Thomas Wrede, Chairman of the company's Advisory Board since 2015, the conversion and expansion of the Wrede Group to its current size with over 2,000 employees and a turnover of more than 400 million € began.

“Helmut Schmidt has always been 100% reliable. The basis of our good and successful cooperation was mutual trust, openness and respect", Thomas Wrede emphasized during his speech on the occasion of Helmut Schmidt's farewell. He thanked Mr. Schmidt - also on behalf of the family and the Advisory Board - for his high level of personal commitment and unconditional loyalty and wished him all the best for the future.

Mr. Schmidt expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the team that shaped Wrede group over the course of almost 29 years. He always felt trust and appreciation, both in business and in personal matters.

With his planned appointment to the Advisory Board of Wrede Industrieholding, Mr. Helmut Schmidt will continue to assume responsibility for important strategic decisions in the Wrede Group.

As of 1 February, Mr. Michael Sindram (40) was appointed to the Management Board of Wrede Industrieholding. Michael Sindram holds a degree in business administration and studied at the Universities of Hamburg and Mannheim. After completing his studies, he worked as a strategy consultant in Munich from 2003 onwards, focusing on strategy, market entry and M&A - most recently at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. From 2012 onwards, he held various management positions in the Hilti family business in the fields of strategy and sales.

With this personnel change, the generational change in the management is executed. This process began in 2014 with the establishment of a family foundation and the incorporation of Wrede Industrieholding into the Wrede Foundation. In mid-2015, Thomas Wrede moved to the Advisory Board and took over its chairmanship. Jens Bauer (50), who had previously held various management positions in the Group since the mid-1990s, took over his position as Managing Director of Wrede Industrieholding.

“The new management team consisting of Jens Bauer and Michael Sindram has my full confidence and together they will provide the right impetus for the successful further development of the Wrede Group," Thomas Wrede said.
